Stamford Bridge has been abuzz with the return of José Mourinho. Upon arrival, Mourinho has looked to stamp his authority over the Chelsea side, bringing in Bayer Leverkusen winger Andre Schurrle, Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van Ginkel, Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer, Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o and pipping Tottenham to Anzhi winger Willian. Mourinho has been quite busy this window, especially with his protracted rather public unsuccessful attempt to prise Wayne Rooney from David Moyes’ Manchester United. Mourinho inherited a star-studded Chelsea side from Rafael Benitez, and after injecting some high quality acquisitions into the squad, they are certainly a force to be reckoned with, if Mourinho’s 7-1-1 formation does not rear its ugly head once more. If the special one can find the right combination Chelsea could well be in with a shot at the title this season.

Grade: A-
Mourinho’s side is simply class, there are no holes, there is great depth and they have signed rather well despite a large fee for Willian. A real danger team and a title challenge is certainly in the offing.
